27. 10. 2015 Cancer in the older population of the Czech Republic
Population ageing has become a challenge to cancer care in developed countries. Particularities of the older population must be taken into account when considering cancer treatment. However, there is a lack of consensus on guidelines for this population due to the underrepresentation of older patients in clinical trials.
15. 1. 2014 Personalised invitations of Czech citizens to cancer screening programmes
In January 2014, a project of personalised invitations for cancer screening programmes was launched in the Czech Republic. In particular, citizens are invited to participate in colorectal cancer screening (men and women), as well as breast cancer screening and cervical cancer screening (women). Personalised invitations are aimed at citizens who have not participated in cancer screening programmes in the long term, and therefore are at a higher risk of developing cancer. The project is expected to increase participation rates in Czech cancer screening programmes.

PET/CT-CZ(Q)

Terminated project developing a data background for the monitoring of numbers and indications of PET/CT scans in the clinical practice of Czech health care facilities.
start projektu: January 2013
ukončení projektu: December 2014
The PET/CT-CZ(Q) provided exact and representative data for the area of planning and optimisation of capacity of PET/CT scans in individual regions of the Czech Republic. In this special field of medicine, the project established a data background which are sustainable in the long term, and which can be updated easily. Mapping of performed PET/CT scans, their indications and validated predictions of expectable numbers of future scans provided rational materials which are essential to plan for this area of health care. As PET/CT scans are predominantly indicated for cancer patients, oncology represented the main area of analyses. However, the project also envisaged to process clinical data on all diagnostic groups with the indication of PET/CT scan. The project design was based on processing of previously obtained (i.e., existing) data. More specifically, this is data in the Czech National Cancer Registry as the population-wide source of data, as well as representative data from the clinical practice, which was generated by processing administrative data from major health care facilities.
- Funding: The project was supported by a grant from the company ÚJV Řež, a.s.
- Partners: 14 major health care facilities in the Czech Republic
